Cinnamon Bun Smoothie

I made the most delicious smoothie this morning that I had to share.  I actually tried to make this smoothie for the first time one morning last week.  I got all the ingredients together in the Magic Bullet cup and screwed on the blade.  But when I pressed the blade end down into the Magic Bullet nothing happened!  I could not figure out why it wouldn’t work.  And I was already running late for work which didn’t help.

I had my heart set on this smoothie so there was no way I was going to work without it.  So I got out my food processor and dumped the contents of the cup into the bowl.  I blended away keeping my fingers crossed.  Once it looked smooth enough I poured it back into the smoothie cup and off I went.

When I took my first sip I quickly realized that food processors do not make good smoothies.  Though it tasted good there were little chunks of oatmeal and cinnamon.  I told Benzo about my smoothie fiasco later that evening and he said “why didn’t you use the immersion blender?”

Duh.

That thought did not even cross my mind.  The immersion blender would’ve been a much better choice.

Luckily this morning Benzo got the Magic Bullet working again (I have no idea what was wrong with it) and I was able to properly recreate this smoothie.

Cinnamon Bun Smoothie
Serves 1

1 frozen banana, sliced
1 cup milk, any kind
1/4 cup oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp ground flax
2 tbsp vanilla protein powder (I use brown rice)
1 tbsp pure maple syrup
Splash of vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients and blend with your favorite kitchen blending tool (but I do not recommend a food processor).

I thought it tasted like this:

In a cup:

Mmmmm.

I am having a nice weekend so far.  Benzo and I went on a date last night and saw The Other Guys.  I thought it was good!  Today I had a really great run and then got some yard work done.  Looking forward to what tomorrow brings!
