Hey there!
It’s been a month since I last blogged. Jack is now 6 weeks old! I can’t believe how fast the time has gone.
One of my Facebook friends posted a link yesterday that I wanted to share:
30 Fabulous Reuses & Repurposes for Old or Recalled Cribs at Consignment Mommies
A few months ago while getting ready for Jack to arrive, I wrote about my crib debacle. A family at our church had generously given us a crib, however the crib had been previously recalled. We bought a new crib instead but the recalled crib still resides in our basement. It just seems wrong to throw it out, but it can’t legally be donated or sold as a crib.
So I was excited to see the link above! A way to use at least pieces of this crib and keep it out of the landfill. The crib is really nice cherry wood and it’s in great condition. I think it would work well for some of these projects.
Here are some that caught my eye:
Laundry Drying Rack at My Repurposed Life
I absolutely love this drying rack. It folds out from the wall to hang laundry on and then folds back when not in use. Very simple and minimal. Click the link above to see more pictures and instructions.
Woven Wall Hanging at Junk Market Style
This wall hanging is made out of the springs from the crib. I think this would be a really interesting piece of art to hang on the wall and what a neat way to upcycle the springs of a recalled crib. P.S. It looks really easy to do too! Click the link above for more pictures and instructions.
Magazine Rack from Blue Cricket Design
Talk about easy! I could implement this magazine rack in about 5 minutes. I have a ton of magazines on my coffee table that I could organize on a rack like this. Click the link above for more pictures.
Again you can see all the uses at this link:

I also like all the pictures of benches, chairs and tables that were made out of old cribs (too many to post here). And there are message boards, office organizers, plate racks, and more. People are so creative! If anyone has any other ideas for reusing a crib or crib parts let me know.
Wow! That was really neat. Thanks for sharing. Hope that you are enjoying life with your little one. I am due with my third in just 5 more weeks and can’t wait! 🙂
This is really cute Amy, I really love the magazine rack. You could also paint them white and use that crackle stuff to make them look distressed. Hope you’re doing well!
